2024 Retrospective
In lieu of a January newsletter, I thought I’d do a year-long retrospective instead.
This year I finished and published four short stories on this site:
The Lightbearers (also shared on the Macabre Monday Substack)
The Vigil (A 2024 Lunar Award winner!)
I have also nearly finished a story for the upcoming Storyletter anthology. The plan is to finish it today. Unfortunately, I can’t share that one until it either gets rejected or until six months after the book is published, but I will share it sometime next year. So, that’s four short stories completed and published, or roughly one every three months. I know a lot of people publish at a much faster pace, but I’ve found that the quality suffers if I rush myself too much. As always, I appreciate your patience with how slow I am.
Speaking of your patience, I also finished two and a half chapters of the first draft of a novella. As difficult as it is not to get distracted by new and shiny projects, I will do my utmost this year to at least finish the first draft. If it’s anything like my other projects, I’ll probably have to rewrite almost the entire thing before it’s done. If I’m lucky, I’ll finish it by the end of 2025. So it might be a while before I have a new story ready, but I’ll try to make it worth the wait.
Thanks for reading!
